Flamgu + Ferrari

Thank you for visiting our website. We are Flamgu and Doug Ferrari and together we form Flamgu+Ferrari, a contemporary design project. Our collaborative process involves us working on many paintings at once and working on the same canvas at once. Often our paintings are 5-15 layers, where we use recycled materials such as vegetable netting, salt paper and sand as well as oil paint, acrylic, gouache, and aerosols to create something new every time. We heavily rely on water and motion within our paintings, and the majority of our work is done outdoors.

With both of our backgrounds in science, experimentation and discovery is at the forefront of our process. Our collaborative exchange and exploration of materials keeps us excited and inspired. It is our intention to create paintings that instill a sense of peace, playfulness and joy. Ultimately, we enjoy sharing the delight in our process and hope to inspire our viewers to find the creative force within each and everyone of us.

Flamgu

Flamgu, a native east Tennessean, paints to celebrate the power of our imagination as well as the connection to each other and Mother Nature. With a background in biology and chemistry, understanding how the universe operates has and continues to be her greatest inspiration. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in art and in 2018 and has spent most of her twenties traveling the country nomadically and gaining great inspiration for her work.

Doug Ferrari

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Nashville, Doug has always been immersed in the arts and creativity. From a young age, he developed a profound fascination with the world of painting, finding inspiration in the intricate biological processes of nature. As a painter, his canvases come alive with vivid depictions of the interconnectedness between flora and fauna, portraying the beauty and resilience of life. His artistic journey doesn't end with painting, for he is also keyboardist. Music flows through his veins, harmonizing with his artistic expression, and creating a symphony of creativity in his life. With a unique blend of visual and auditory artistry, he continually seeks to bridge the gap between the natural world and the human spirit, captivating the hearts and minds of those who experience his work. His passion for both painting and music has shaped his life, making him a true visionary.
